Weekly Vocabulary
Vocabulary tests are given each Friday unless otherwise noted.
1. trial - a meeting in court to decide if someone has broken the law. "In a trial, people in a courtroom review what happened to figure out the truth."
2. jury - the group of people who make the decision in a trial. "Members of a jury hear the facts of the case and make a decision together." 3. stand - the place where a witness in a trial sits while being questioned. "When people take the stand in court, they sit down and answer questions." 4. guilty - having done something wrong. "Jurors tell the judge whether they thing the accused person is guilty or innocent." 5. honest - truthful. "People in court are asked to be honest and tell the truth." 6. convinced - made someone believe or agree to something. "The lawyer made the jury members believe her. They were convinced." 7. pointed - used a finger to show where something was. "A witness pointed to a map to show where the crime took place." 8. murmur - the sound of people speaking very softly. "The judge asks for silence when he hears a murmur in the court room."
